Connect the Slack app

Install the emma Slack app so your team can receive alerts and run commands right in your workspace.

Bring emma into Slack and your team gets alerts and infrastructure commands where they already work. This guide installs the app and links it to your emma account.

Before you start you need an emma account and permission to install apps in your Slack workspace.

1. Install the app

Add the emma app to your Slack workspace and authorize it. The console's integrations settings provide the install link and walk you through Slack's authorization screen.

Installing grants the app the permissions Slack lists on the authorization screen. Review them, and install only into a workspace you administer or have approval for.

Connect the installed app to your emma account so it knows whose infrastructure to act on.

In Slack, run /emma link (or follow the prompt from the app's welcome message).
Complete the linking step to connect the workspace to your emma account.
emma confirms the link.

3. Use it

Once linked, your team can:

  • Receive alerts — route any alert to a Slack channel
  • Run commands — query infrastructure from a channel or DM

Try this (in Slack) — /emma what's running in production?

Responses come back as Slack messages. Read commands run immediately; anything that changes infrastructure still requires confirmation — see Safety & confirmations.
